Lots of Fun in Cumbria...

Good afternoon all and welcome to Freda...our new follower...I do hope you will be very happy here...it is a very friendly, crafty place with lots of coffee and cake...

Speaking of cake ....Birthday cake...it is Lisa's Birthday .Today ...so from us all Happy Birthday lovely lady..

It was Clarity Cumbria yesterday and as always it was a most wonderful day...with extra sweets...( cheers Lisa )

We had a play with the Color Burst powder paints...now those who are regular visitors will have seen my recent play with these amazing powders. They are great with the old shaving foam...and I was totally delighted when the man himself....Ken Oliver actually commented on my FB picture.....yah....

This was our first card...

And look at the designs that the ladies and gentleman created

I am so ...so proud of them....such fab work.

And with the clean up from the mat....we made tags...

Here are a few of them...

The colours are just so vibrant....I really would recommend them to everyone...

Our next card was more of a typical Card with Clarity...

How brilliant are these.

Then we used the Christmas Wee Folk and made quick Christmas cards.

At least I can say that I have started making my Christmas cards....

Tess and Eric came along and they have got their own branch of Cumbria Classes....look at them...We all had such a wonderful day...

So today I am catching up on jobs, some washing and ironing...it is raining now and actually gone quite dark outside...

I have another busy week ahead with workshops on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday...so this afternoon I may just cuddle up on the sofa with Karl and watch a film.....any recommendations????

Have a lovely afternoon and thank you for looking in...

Much love and hugs...

Shaving with Color

Good evening everyone, and thanks for coming to visit again.

I do hope that you have had a good day , I have just got home after a long walk with the dogs....I often wonder just how much of my week is spent walking the dogs..you see I worry that I don't go to the gym, don't go to diet classes....so I am hoping that walking the dogs at least twice a day will help to keep me fit and healthy.....mmmmm I do wonder.

Anyway enough of that...and onto something crafty....now do you remember last week when I had my first play with the Color Burst Powders? .....available on the Clarity website...

Well I couldn't resist trying with one of my favourite old techniques.... Shaving foam.....

And yes....good fun....

Here is my finished design...

So I started with a plastic container and some cheap ( tesco) shaving foam.

For this one I kept it dimensional.....it also looks good when smoothed to a flat surface.

Oh look at the colours of the powders....

Then simply pull some prints..

This is the one that I used....choose your stamps...I do love the Wee Folk.

Cut to size and add some shading using charcoal pencils. This makes such a difference...

I also used the piece that I had cut off...

Next some butterflies..

And some bubles

Some highlights.

And my design is complete..

Here is a closer look....I do love this effect...

Also...I have a stash of papers ....

Plus this one...

And they smell wonderful too.

Must go and prepare some food...hungry boys and all that..

I do hope you have a play with these powders...and I would love to know how you get on...

Have a lovely evening..

Much love...

The two that nearly got away..

Good morning, and thank you for joining me today. ...it is 9-20 am and I have walked the dogs, had breakfast and just hung some washing out. So before I start my craft jobs for today I thought I would share two samples with you that nearly got away.... I made them for Barbara and her show for USA...

They were an extra make so I am afraid there was no time for step by step photos...

The first one was to showcase the mask and the wonderful stamps, the moonshadow, silhouette trees and mini flock...

I wanted to try and make an evening scene, where the castle is lit up, with lots of spotlights....

Here is a closer look...Lots of stamping....First and second generation....

For the second one , I wanted to use the tree stamp....but not as a tree...

You know me....as a wreath....

And here is the finished card using numbers from the alphabet numbers set.....

Cool idea for a man .....what do you think ?

As always I love to read your comments...you see I love my little blog .....as although I do put things on social media I do find some people can use it as a form of bullying...it can be such a horrible world....

So I love to surround myself with lovely friends...some coffee, cake....and we can just chat and share ideas....

Have a good day all....and be kind to each other....

Hugs.....

Canvas playtime..

Good afternoon all, do hope your week has started well.

Mine started at 5-30 am when Karl had to leave to go to London...so I decided as I had a busy day ahead I might as well get up and start ticking jobs off the list...

After breakfast and walking the dogs I got on and tackled planning for future workshops...

Then it was some washing and ironing....some paperwork and then I just felt like something completely different...

So here we go...

Deep breath...

And ...

Bet you weren't expecting that....

Barbara has been having a canvas sale and doing lots of canvas work...so I just felt like joining her...

But doing it a bit differently...

The wax crayons were attached to the canvas using a glue gun...and then melted using a heat tool...

My canvas needed something else so a helpful friend of mine suggested the man with the umbrella from the Wheelie Stencils....and yes thanks Yvonne ....I like that idea...

So there we have it.... And yes...they were great fun to make....

Thanks for looking in....take card and pop back soon.

Love and hugs,

Jo. xxxx

A Burst of Colour...

Good morning all, ...here we are we made it to Saturday....

I have been up early , walked the dogs, done last bits of painting in the spare room and I just have time to have a coffee and chat before Karl and me head off to the Lowry Theatre to watch their production of Wicked....I am so excited....I have been looking forward to this for months...

I do hope you have a lovely weekend planned...what are you up too???

So the question is what to chat about today...?

Well I have just been introduced to powder paints in the form of Color Burst....and on sale on the Clarity website...

Now this is the first time I have used them so please be gentle with me...they are similar to the Brusho powders that are very popular at the moment....

Anyway here is what I came up with and I hope you approve...

I start with a piece of gelli card....now you have two options here...you can wet the paper and add the powder....or as I did add some powder then spritz.....these bottles are designed really well so that you can easily control the amount of powder..

I used one colours ta time....

Then the magic when you spritz...

And another colour..

And more water...

Three is always good ...so a third colour is introduced.

A quick dry then some faux bleaching using Jo's Bubbles stencil and some water....I do love this effect...

Next , I added my main image using Black Archival ink...( I wanted a strong contrast )

Yes....I am liking that....

Then I added a Wee Girl and some white gel pen dots.

Some letters.....Bakers twine....

And there we have it.....

I can thoroughly recommend these powders and I have lots of other techniques using them that I will share with you over the next few weeks...

Must go ....need to put some lipstick on...

Enjoy your day....and pop back soon..

Much love
