Workshop - FlitterGlu & Stamping

Happy Friday to you all, I do hope it has been a good week.
On Wednesday I ran two workshops at H.G.Arts &Crafts in Poynton and what a brilliant time I had, thanks to all the lovely crafters that came.
I started with an introduction about FlitterGlu and it's uses...oh it is a fab product ....and has so many different uses...( ideas will follow)
I then showed how it can be used with Mega-Flakes to produce a stunning gilded image. We used the Retro Christmas stamps from IndigoBlu.

For the first card the image of Santa was used, FlitterGlu applied, kiss stamped, flakes applied, then rubbed and 'scoochied'...the surround and the base card were stamped with Distress Ink and sequin waste gave us the pattern (thanks for the idea Maria Simms at Clarity N.W.). Straight after stamping I washed the stamps in water and dried them. The background was stamped using the Snowflakes stamp and the sentiment came from the brilliant new set... Seasons Greetings.

The second card uses the large Merry Christmas stamp and this was stamped in Memento ink so that we could use ProMarkers to add shading..once again Distress Inks was used for the background , I like to use a couple of different shades as I find it produces a really nice effect. The small holly stamp was used, stamped, cut out then stuck on with foam pads.

I hope you have a good weekend, I will be busy tomorrow as I am at the Happy Stampers North West show at Port Sunlight.... I will be on the IndigoBlu stand with the very talented Kay Halliwell-Sutton (stand 33) ... If you are going do pop by and say Hi, ...also say hi to Barbara Gray, Maria Simms and the Clarity ladies ...(stand 27)
See you soon, hugs, Jo. X

Wreath Card

Well, I cant believe how much rain we have had, I do hope it stops soon.
So sorry that I have not blogged for a while, but on Friday I spent the day at Inspirations in Preston , where the fabulous Kay Halliwell-Sutton was demonstrating... Oh, I had such a brilliant time.....
So it seems fitting that today I am sharing with you a card using IndigoBlu stamps.

I thought I would show you in picture form how I made it,
I started with a piece of IndigoBlu card and covered the whole area with PanPastels.

The sprig stamp is part of the Wreathed in Smiles stamp plate. I used a memento ink pad, cottage ivy, just because I liked the colour.

Continue moving the card around and stamping the sprig.

Until the wreath is finished.

The bow stamp is from the same set, the sides are stamped with VersaMark ink and PanPastels added over the top. Gems give the finishing detail.

I do like to find uses for all the stamps...don't you?...
Anyway must go as I have workshops tomorrow, see you soon, hugs, x

Sneak peaks.

Hi, well today I am going to give you a sneak peak of two New Hobby Art stamp sets.... They are not available to buy yet, but can be pre-ordered.

They are brilliant Christmas sets and have so many possibilities.

Here is one of the D.T. Samples that I have made, the Robin has been decoupaged... I stamped him out 3 times , cut out various parts and then mounted with foam pads. .. I stamped using Memento ink and coloured using ProMarkers... Glitter gives the finishing touch.

These stamps create great images , I have a lot more cards to share with you, so please pop back soon.
Oh, nearly the weekend,
Bye for now, Jo. X

Black and Gold.....

Well , I can't believe  where the weekend has gone..... How has yours been? Mine has been busy but enjoyable..... Today, I spent the day at Clarity North West with the fab Maria Simms and a great bunch of crafters.
Last week I had to make a special card for a friend to give to his wife, he wanted something different to 'the run of the mill' cards....
This is what I came up with... I can share it with you as she really loved it.

The background is stamped with FlitterGlu on to black card with the IndigoBlu Floral Swirl stamp and then Brighton Pier Mega-Flakes.
The topper is also using the black card with the IndigoBlu Poppy Heart stamp. FlitterGlu and Morris Dance Mega-Flakes.

Hat pins and embellishments finish off the design.
This is the first time that I have used the black card and the flakes and I am so impressed with the results and the fact that it was so quick to make.
I think this could be a start of my black and gold faze .....oh dear...watch this space...
Have a good week all and thanks for calling in,
Hugs, Jo. X

Card Candi Flowers

Hi, Friday evening at last, time to relax........

As promised, I am going to talk you through the way that I make Card Candi flowers.... I must stress that this is just my interpretation....

All you need is some Card Candi, some Cosmic Shimmer dries clear glue and some tweezers.... Oh and a steady hand.....

I start by using an upside down Candi as my base, I fill this with glue.
I then place 3 Candi in position,

Using my tweezers I shape a tube type shape to go in the middle,  the Candi is really easy to shape.

I place this in the middle and the glue is strong enough that it stands up. Then I shape more petals , I curl the top edge over and then pinch the lower part.

These petal shapes are then added , slightly overlapping , until the flower is finished.

There are many designs of Card Candi, and many types of flowers can be made. If you are worried about postage, flat flowers can be made by filling
A Candi with glue and then 5 Candi being placed evenly around this. A gem can be added for the centre.
I hope you have a go at making these....
Thanks for looking in and have a good weekend. Jo. X

Birthday Workshop

Hi, I am writing this on Thursday evening after a day of housework ....grrrr...
Well, yesterday was a very special workshop for me as it was 'my first Birthday'..... I have now been running regular workshops at HG Arts & Crafts in Poynton, Cheshire.......for twelve months,  and I have enjoyed every minute of it and met some fantastic crafters... Looking forward to lots more...

Our main theme was the use of a great paper pack by Docrafts .....
Happy Birthday to you by Papermania... This pack contains a good selection of papers, tags, paper ribbons, numbers and so much more. The first card was a pocket card and can be used when sending, vouchers, tickets or a little gift such as a bookmark.

The butterfly was stamped on vellum with VersaMark ink and embossed with gold embossing powder, then cut out and mounted..
To embellish the cards we made flowers out of Card Candi, ...these are great fun to make..

I will post details of Card Candi flowers tomorrow.
So , bye for now and catch you again tomorrow.

Santa's Reindeer

Hi all, well Monday morning again, ......and how are you this week?
We have had such lovely weather over the weekend and I do hope you got chance to enjoy it.
Today the card that I am sharing with you is a Christmas (if I dare say the word.... But it will be here soon!!!) card made with the Santa's Reindeer set from Hobby Art.

The background was made by stamping with spiced marmalade and dried marigold distress inks and then adding a little water to give a watercolour effect.

The topper was created by stamping on double sided adhesive with Archival black ink, placing acetate over the top, then on the reverse sticky side adding Eton Mess Mega-Flakes. This was then mounted on to black card and two wobbly eyes added. ... If you want to add colour you can use Alcohol markers on the sticky surface before the Flakes.
Glitter gives the finishing detail...
I thought that this was a different colour palate to usual Christmas cards, I hope you like it.
Right I must go now as I have a lot of preparation to do, as on Wednesday we will be celebrating at HG Arts and Crafts .......
..................1 year Anniversary for my workshops.....
................( and they said it would never last!!!!!! )
Take care , have a good week and see you soon. X

Take the Time

Happy Saturday morning to you, oh, weekend......
Today my post is all about my new purchase.... A stamp plate from IndigoBlu...'Take the Time' ... This is a totally different style to my normal . So here goes.... I do think it is good to try a different style...

I started by making lots of toppers with the various stamps, all using Distress inks and on the reverse side of Centura pearl card. This is a great way to get a feel for the stamps and is great fun to play with a variety of colours and stamps.....

Instead of backing paper I stamped directly onto the cards again with various Distress inks and stamps..... My favourite Script background stamp jumped out at me again...

I then spent time arranging the images and adding a variety of metal embellishments, all which came from IndigoBlu.... Do check out their new releases...

Do let me know what you think , and if you get chance do have a go at this style....
Take care and pop back soon, crafty Hugs, Jo. X

Birthdays are like Buses

Good Morning , I hope you are all well this Thursday morning.
Well it has been another busy week in the Rice household, so I am now trying to catch up on my blog.... Sorry for my late post...

Better late than never....

At the moment I am suffering from Birthday card overload.... Like busses they all come along at once...

Today I am going to share with you My Dads card, his hobby is to breed and show game birds, so these Clarity stamps are just ideal.

The background was stamped using Latte Adirondack ink and the main topper used, Expresso. The feather embellishment was made by, stamping the feather in Black Archival ink onto Shink Plastic and then heated (whilst holding my breath!).
Thanks for stopping by, Jo x
