Workshop - Techniques using Gold

Wednesday 24th January, today our workshop was using a variety of techniques to incorporate gold leaf and gilding flakes into our card making.

For this card we used the Poppy Stamp from Hobby Art, double sided adhesive, acetate and a piece of gold leaf. Many of the Crafters hadn't used this technique before and found it enjoyable and rewarding (also surprisingly quick). For anyone who hasn't used Hobby Art stamps, I can thoroughy recomend them.

This card uses Barn Door distress ink, the Poppy Stamp and one verse from the sentiment sheet to create the background. The topper was made by stamping with distress ink and water colouring to produce a vintage look. A glue pen was then used and left over gold from the first card gave definition. All finished off with a Dragon Fly cut out of gold mirri board.

Workshop Review

Friday 20th January was a great day!

Firstly I found an article (page 28 Issue 36, Creative Cardmaking) about a workshop which I ran last November. Thank you Laura for such an inspirational piece.

Secondly, I spent the morning in good company at our first Scrapbooking Crop. Here are some examples of pages that were made by crafters.

All rounded off with coffee and chocolate biscuits (got to be better than housework!).

Sympathy Cards

Sympathy Cards are never easy to make, so I was pleased to find that Papermania have launched a set of Pearlescent decoupage sheets called Moments of Faith. Theses are easy to push out and assemble, making classic sympathy cards.

 

Silver Wedding Collage

Good friends of mine recently celebrated their Silver Wedding Anniversary. They wanted to keep all their lovely cards, but didn't know how to display them. So we came up with idea of taking an element of each card and arranging them of a collage display in a silver frame which was also an anniversary gift.

Here is the result. I think it has worked out well and is really a good idea. What do you think?

Workshop - 'De-stress' after Christmas

 What a great day Wednesday was, it was the first Workshop of 2012. As usual we worked on 2 projects.

This card was just 'what the doctor ordered', a de-stress after Christmas project using the wonderful technique of Zentangle (many thanks to Barbara Gray for this). The stamp used is a Clarity wired heart stamp.

So relaxing!!

This card was a gentle introduction to Steam Punk, using Kanban toppers. The background was made by stamping and clear embossing to form a resist and then distress inks applied. An old telephone book page was distressed to add interest. The finishing touches of white gel pen and gold card candi were added.

A crafty day was had by all at HG Arts & Craft, Brookside Garden Centre, Poynton, Cheshire.

Card for a Rainy Day

A perfect card for today.

This uses mixed papers from the Spring Chic collection from DoCrafts.

The image is stamped using a Simply Gorguss rubber stamp from Personal Impressions.

These are really lovely to colour using Promarkers and to use paper piecing for the umbrella and clothes.

I drew the rain drops by hand and then used glossy accents to add shine.

The card is finished using faux stitching, a sentiment, ribbon and hatpins.

Lets face it's January is all about dancing in the rain!!!

Stepper Card

New Year, new blog.

This is a Stepper Card using Hot Diggity Dog decoupage sheet from Docrafts. I do like to use Glossy Accents on the dogs nose. The butterfly is a wooden embellishment, on which I've added detail with my pyrography tool.

Wooden Stool

What better way to start the year than hearing of a new birth. I have just completed this pyrography design on the stool for the proud Grandparents. The central design is a Tatty Teddy stamp by Docrafts.
