It's all in the pattern....

Good afternoon and thanks for looking in today . How has Monday treated you ? Good I hope.

Did you have a good weekend or are you in stress mode...?

I have finally delivered my last batch of pyrography orders, had coffee with a friend, and just done the last bit of present shopping. Tomorrow I am going up to Kendal for some family time,,,although my Mum has just reminded me to put my water wings and rubber ring in the car.,.

Today I wanted to share a card with you that was on Paul Church's last show....it uses the wonderful set of pattern Stencils....

I just love them all , and so I wanted to design a card that used all four Stencils in one go...

I started by firstly cutting my card...

I started with the smallest piece first and the first stencil

I added some Mustard Seed D.I.

Followed with some Spiced Marmalade DI around the edges.

This is what I had

Then I used the next piece of card and another stencil

This time starting off with Spiced Marmalede DI and edging with Festive Berries DI

Can you see a design developing? I edged each square with the colour that I was going to use on the next square...

So onto the next piece of card and the next stencil

This time Festive Berries DI and Ground Espresso DI.

I really do love this stencil...just something about it....

The last piece of card was the largest , so I had to walk the stencil around the card.....

This is what I got , obviously I didn't need to add colour to the centre...

The four pieces of card looked like this after I had edged them with a black Sharpie pen

Some matting and layering and a piece of ribbon and this what I had

It just needed something in the middle....so the bird from the Journaling set flew in...

I coloured it with my Spectrum Noir pencils.

Yes, that's better...

Do hope that you like this....

I had better go...Eric is pacing....and nudging my leg...so it must be time for another walk...

Thanks for the chat and grab a mince pie on your way out....home made off course!!!

Take care lovely followers...

Hugs

A Color Burst Deer....

Good afternoon all and good to have you join me today....I am just sat with a lovely cup of tea and thought that we could have a catch up.....

Yesterday I had a lovely time when I met some of the lovely ladies from our Hazel Grove classes, we had tea , cake and a good old catch up.......just perfect.....I do think that life is so hectic and we are all so busy it is great to take five minutes out, get off the treadmill and just enjoy simple pleasures in life....

Have you used the Color Burst powders yet? As you know I do love these wonderful little bottles of magic...

Today I am going to talk you through using them to paint with...instead of the usual making a background...

Here is the card design....do hope that you like it....

I started with a piece of stencil card....I chose this because it is so good when you add water to it...

I ran it through my eBosser with the wonderful stag stencil. Oh it does emboss really well.

Next I just put some small amounts of the Color Burst powders into my pallet , added some water and just had fun painting...The colours blend so well...

Then I just painted in some grass so that it grounded our proud stag...and edged him with a black fine liner pen...

To frame the design I used some Black Soot Distress Ink.

And then added two panels that I had made using up the paint that was left in my pallet.....some mopping up and water spritzing....

And finally a black gem for his eye...and one for his nose.....

A twist of colour for our handsome stag....but then we can make him any colour we want ...that is the beauty of having our stencils...and just having a play.....

And let's be honest we all love to play.....and experiment.....

Right I had better go as it is Karl's Birthday today.....and yes I did manage to make him a card....all be it late last night ...he is my best friend and my rock....

So I had better go and show him just how much I love him....

Enjoy your evening, and thanks for popping in, I really do appreciate it....

Hugs,

Jo. xxxx

The Elephant in the room....

Good evening all and thanks for looking in today.

Oh my how the day has flown today...or is that just me? And I do wish people would stop reminding me how many days left .....,,,,,!!!!!!

What have you been up to? My day started at 7am with a long dog walk ....in the rain.....Karl left at 5am so it was just me and the ' double trouble ' mad Labradors.

Then it was some paper work , emails, and I actually made and wrote a few more Christmas cards....then it was onto some pyrography orders....

Would you believe I have just been out with the dogs again,,,and it is raining....no wonder I am little......I think I keep shrinking with all this rain....

Karl is due home about 8pm so I have time to share some art work with you before I cook his meal....

I thought we would look at some stencil work...as you know I do love stencils...

I started with a piece of stencil card, the trellis stencil and some distress inks.

Blending the colours from light to dark....from the middle to the outer edges.

Then I removed the stencil. I do love this background.

Next came the elephant stencil and some grey distress ink...Hickory Smoke..I didn't want the design to dark

I wanted to be able to add some depth with black soot DI.

It is always good to have some light and shade.

Oh and balance, so I distressed the edges in black too.

Next I put VersaMark ink through the stencil, always remember to wash the stencil straight away...

Then some clear embossing powder, and I heated it from underneath....

It gave the elephant a lovely glossy look to his hide.....not easy to photograph though ....sorry .

Some matting and layering and some grounding with my charcoal pencils.

And a black gem for his eye...such a proud elephant...

It is great to combine stencils , there are so many possibilities...

Oh , time is marching on again...I need to get the noodles on..

Have a lovely evening, and to those of you going to school concerts, carol services etc....enjoy ..

.my all time favourite service is the christingle service ....I know my Christmas has begun then....

Love and hugs...

Christmas Class.

Good evening friends and followers, and welcome to our new follower.....it is great to have you join us, help yourself to a mince pie...

Hope your Saturday has gone well, I have to admit that I have had a wonderful day....so much laughter...

It was workshops at C.J.Cardcrafts in Edgeley , Cheshire and as it was the last one for this year we had a bit of a Christmas party,,,,,,chocolates, Christmas crackers , festive biscuits and oh yes Christmas jumpers were on the class list....( thanks Fi )

We revisited a couple of popular techniques , first the shaving foam with Peacock Feathers Distress bottled ink. ( great man's card )

Then we created our custom made ink pads and used more gorgeous stamps from Claritystamps

And

Susan kept us all in oreder

And we even had a special visitor in the afternoon....

Did you spot him???

He was quite mischievous

Here are some of the ladies cards.

It is always a pleasure to visit the shop and Glynis is a great host....we have lots of fabulous things planned for next year and the dates are available for the first six months...

I am home now and so is Karl...oh how I have missed him this week...

So on that note , I am signing off....

Remember our Paul is on Hochanda tomorrow....more great Stencils and stamps....

Have a lovely evening.....

Much love....
