Workshop - Cards with Acetate

Good evening, hope you've had a good day..... I have, it was Workshop Day at HG Arts & Crafts.
Today we made cards with acetate and used stamps from the Creative Stamp magazine.
The first card uses distress inks and acetate to make a reflection, this is a brilliant technique and really quick to do.
The second card uses an image stamped with Momento ink, coloured with ProMarkers and then decorated using Paper Piecing. An acetate dome was stamped with white Staz-on ink and then fixed over the top.
This is a really great stamp set and magazine, the next issue is on sale 7th September 2012.
A crafty playtime was had by all, see you all soon. x

IndigoBlu Retreat

Hi all, hope you've had a good Bank Holiday Weekend (even if it is a bit wet!).
Last week was a busy, but very enjoyable week for me. I was very lucky and spent 2 days on the first ever IndigoBlu Retreat..... wow..... it was fantastic!
Here are the three projects we made.

The above wooden box was painted and then decorated with various stamps from IndigoBlu, it was great fun making all the notelets and tags.
The second project was the above wall hanging, we stamped the background tissue paper and then made a montage with various stamping techniques.
The third and final project as shown above, was this Key Holder which was decorated using acrylic paints, FltterGlu, Mega Flakes and a variety of stamping techniques.
I really enjoyed making all 3 projects and came home wanting to make more.
Thanks for spending time with me today, take care and pop back soon. x

Joy to the World

Good morning all, are you impressed? I have actually started making my Christmas cards!!!!!
For this card, I stamped the background with the Script stamp from IndigoBlu using Tea Dye distress ink. The main image uses a piece of double sided adhesive, acetate, Copper Kettle Mega-flakes and black Archival Ink. The image and sentiment are both stamps from the Joy to the World stamp plate.
Handy tip.... if you wipe your hands with a tumble dryer sheet before you start, the flakes don't stick to your hands as much.
Have fun and see you soon. x

Workshop - The Art of Stamping

Hi all, hope you've all had a good weekend and are ready for the week ahead.
Last week, our workshop at HG Arts & Crafts in Poynton, Cheshire started with us all making two ATC's (Artist Trading Cards). These are pieces of artwork, the size should be 3.5" x 2.5" and are used as a type of business card between crafters. Any stamp, design, technique etc., can be used. The two examples above, I made using Clarity Stamps.
For the second project, the crafters made a theatre card using Fairy Girls and Fairy Folk stamp sets by Hobby Art. This is a great design to make, a little different, just needs a few score lines and folds. It was lovely to see all the regular crafters and to meet some new ones too.
See you all soon. Jo x

Bare Forest from IndigoBlu

Here we are Friday again, hope you have a good weekend planned.
This is one of the sample cards which I made for the recent IndigoBlu show on C&C. The background uses distress inks and the script background stamp. The main image uses a brilliant new stamp called Bare Forest 1, FlitterGlu and Lancashire Rose Mega-Flakes. Bakers twine and wooden embellishments add the finishing touches.
Have you tried FlitterGlu and Mega-Flakes yet? The results are stunning and can be used with any stamps in your collection. One tip to remember, is to wash and dry your stamp straight away.
Thanks for dropping by. x
IndigoBlu have a brilliant blog, why not check it out. http://community.indigoblu.com/?page_id=2

Wedding Stationery

Morning all, if any of you will be making Wedding cards or staionery, Hobby Art have brought out a fantastic new stamp range. There are various stamp sets with different fonts, the above collection uses the Traditional Wedding set. As the colour choice can be varied, this can be themed with the rest of the wedding.
Enjoy the rest of your week. x

Olympics 2012

Good morning all, hope you had a good weekend. Did you watch any of the Olympics - wow how well did our athletes do? I felt so proud to be British!
So today, I thought it would be fitting to share this card with you. It was my entry for the June Clarity Challenge.
The challenge was a sporty card in red, white and blue to represent the Olympics, but no rings. So this is what I came up with.
I used Clarity stamps and Adirondack ink pads for the background, I drew the world and ribbon, coloured these with ProMarkers. The medal was finished off with gold embossing powder and Glossy Accents. Do hope you like this. x

Watercolour Daisy

At last it is Friday! This is one of my favourite techniques. It uses Pan Pastels, stamping with VersaMark ink and re-applying Pan Pastels. The stamps I used are from IndigoBlu and are the Watercolour Daisy plus the Butterfly from the Wild Meadow set.
If you haven't tried Pan Pastels yet, do give them a go, you will love them.
Have a good weekend and thanks for stopping by. x

Clarity N.W. Homework

Good morning all, todays post is a quick one. This is my clarity N.W. Homework, (the remit is to make a piece of artwork 3" square and using the previous months class stamps) this one uses the Paris collage Clarity stamp, Espresso Adirondack ink and glass domes. A piece of co-ordinations card gives the finishing detail.
I find this a challenge as I am used to producing larger pieces of work.
Why don't you give it a try. x

Well here we are Monday morning again, hope you all had a good weekend. I am starting the week by sharing this card with you. It is a sample card which I made for the Hobby Art Wedding Show. It uses the new Wedding Collection and StazOn, Opaque Cotton White stamped on acetate. A piece of silver Mirri card was placed under the acetate and I made a rose out of cream ribbon and added hat pins to give detail.

Workshop - Embossed Detail

Yesterday, I met up with my crafty friends and we made two cards using a variety of embossing techniques.
This first one uses Urban Stamps by Papermania, Versamark ink and gold detail embossing powder. A mask was used with the Grand Calibur and Gold Mirri card to produce the cogs. The background was stamped using Gray Flannel Momento ink, Bakers twine was used to add the finishing detail.
The second card uses a stamp set from IndigoBlu, Sewing Mends the Soul. The background uses distress ink, an Xcut embossing folder, co-ordinations card and Spellbinders make up the topper. Seam binding tape was stamped with Versafine ink and the Tape Measure stamp then added to the card.
Once again, it was a great way to spend a day crafting, chatting, oh..... and eating chocolate biscuits of course.
This card I made using distress ink and the above IndigoBlu stamp set.
Take care and see you soon. x
